Riders Stay Chill, Even in the Heat
A lot of guys don't like skating contests, but the buzz around
the Zumiez Best Foot Forward Am Contest Series presented by Boost Mobile has people talking about a relaxed and fun skate session. With guys constantly trying to get into this invite-only event, it's hard to cap the number of skaters in it.
Phoenix is a hotbed of the national skate scene and in the middle of June, it gets even hotter. The crew that showed up to skate today fully represented and killed it. Aaron "Jaws" Hamoki took 3rd with a stalefish over the channel and a double flip down the set. Bubba Al Hout skated like a man possessed for 2nd place. He landed tail slide to fakie on the out ledge, back tail over the channel, and a back Suski down the rail.
With no disrespect to the other skaters, the contest was decided pretty quickly with the smooth style and huge bag of tricks of Nick Fiorini. He skated everything well, nollie back smith & nollie back lip down the rail, nollie big spin disaster on the quarter, nose grind on the out ledge and a switch heel down the set. Nick went home with $500 in gear from Lakai, a $500 Zumiez Gift Card, plus a Boost Mobile phone with airtime. I can't wait to see all the talented collection of winners at the BFF Finals in Milpitas, California June 30th.
Big thanks to all our prize sponsors, Boost Mobile, Lakai Footwear & Zumiez. |
