The history of O'Neill
O'Neill, a surf clothing and gear company, was founded in San Francisco, California, but soon moved down the coast to Santa Cruz in 1952. By 1980, Jack O'Neill's surf shop had morphed into a thriving international company, dominating the world's wetsuit market and one of the leaders in beach lifestyle clothing and gear in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. Some credit O'Neill gear with influencing today's wetsuit design. The company now also makes O'Neill clothing and O'Neill's apparel division is headquartered in Irvine, California.
