ZUMIEZ: What Zoo York rider had the most influence on you?
BRANDON WESTGATE: The Zoo York rider that had the most influence on me was Zared Bassett. He was just always killing it, he could skate anything, we traveled a lot together, and had a lot of good times. So yeah, Zared Bassett.
ZUMIEZ: What was the worst task Steve R gave you while holding down 5boro “flow trash” status?
BRANDON WESTGATE: There wasn’t really a worst task; it was just dumb stuff you had to do. Like, “Go carry the boxes. Go clean the van out.” It was like you had to build your way to some type of respect, and kind of just doing meaningless tasks all the time.
ZUMIEZ: What SF part had the biggest impact on your skating?
BRANDON WESTGATE: An SF part that influenced me was probably Dennis Busenitz. I mean he’s always got SF stuff, the guy can skate SF like no one else, he’s faster than everybody, and the dude just kills it. SF legend.
ZUMIEZ: What’s currently on your homeowner handy man to do list?
BRANDON WESTGATE: We just got a new house. The house came with some cranberry bogs, so I am going to have to have to go do some work on the cranberry bogs. Which I have yet to know exactly what I am going to do but, my Dad is going to help me out on that so, the handyman to do list is high.
ZUMIEZ: What’s the cranberry bog vs skatepark ratio in your hometown?
BRANDON WESTGATE: The cranberry bog ratio to skateparks is a lot higher. There’s way too many cranberry bogs towards skateparks. We don’t even have a skatepark in the town I live in so, it would be nice to get one in there.
