Bio

Mark Appleyard is a professional skateboarder whose smooth style and fine tuned tricks have landed him many magazine covers, awards and memorable roles in skateboarding cinema. Three-time Street League competitor Mark Appleyard is sponsored by names such as Element Skateboards, Globe Shoes, Thunder Trucks, Ricta Wheels, Mob Griptape and more.

Born in 1982 in Oakville, Ontario, Mark Appleyard started skating at the age of 10 at Hamilton’s Beasley Bowl Skatepark. Mark Appleyard left his home in Canada for the warm city of Huntington Beach, California where skateboarding was more prevalent and during the winter skateboarders weren’t confined to indoor skate parks because of the cold. By the time Mark Appleyard was 18 he became a sponsored professional skateboarder with Flip Skateboards where he spent the duration of 9 years as a member on the Flip Skateboarding team. In October of 2010 Mark Appleyard decided to switch gears and joined the Element Skateboards team.

Throughout his career Mark Appleyard achieved many accomplishments; in 2003 he won Thrasher’s Skater of the Year Award, as well as Transworld’s Best Street Skater award in 2003 and 2007, and Transworld’s Readers Choice Award in 2004. Not usually one for competitions, Mark Appleyard earned a spot among the 23 other elite skateboarders in the first ever Street League pro tour and has skated the past 3 years Street League has been operating. He has also been a known contender in the Battle at the Berrics and features a Battle Commander video showing off his skillful talents on a skateboard. With a diverse range of abilities Mark Appleyard can be seen in roles such as Flip’s “Extremely Sorry” and his most recent role in Element’s “Quattro”. Among his many successes Mark Appleyard has his own signature line of Element skateboard decks such as the Element Mark Appleyard Icons and the Element Mark Appleyard Tastemaker, and a line of signature Globe skate shoes called the Eaze.

With a skateboarding style that is seemingly effortless Mark Appleyard is a skateboarder with a well deserved list of achievements such as honorable awards like Skater of the Year and his own personal line of Element skateboard decks and signature Globe skate shoe.
