Founded by Rob Dyrdek, the Street League Skateboarding events feature 24 of the world's top street skateboarders competing exclusively for a groundbreaking $1.6 million dollar prize purse. In 2010, fans witnessed historical endings at each event with Nyjah Huston, Sean Malto and Shane O'Neill all having to land their final trick to clinch the first place honors and $150,000 in prize money. When the dust settled, sixteen year-old Nyjah Huston was crowned the overall 2010 Street League champion. The stakes were raised in 2011 with the addition of a winner-takes-all Championship on August 28th. Only the top ten Street League Pros qualified to compete for $200,000 and the Street League Championship watch and ring- the largest first place prize in skateboarding history. Winners of the first three stops received a golden ticket directly to the Championship event with the seven other championship contenders being determined by overall ranking. In the end, Sean Malto was crowned Street League Champion of 2011. In the third year, 2012 brings the four-stop nationwide tour. Stop 1: May 18th-19th at the Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO (Live Saturday Final 9:00pm EST on ESPN2) Stop 2: June 15-16th at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, CA (Live Saturday Final 9:30pm EST on ESPN2) Stop 3: July 14-15th at Jobing.com Arena, Glendale, AZ (Live Sunday Final 7pm EST on ESPN2) Stop 4: Championship August 26th at Prudential Center, Newark, NJ (Live 5pm EST on ESPN2) One of the most exciting additions to Street League in 2012 is the qualifier for the newly open spots that will replace the bottom six ranked pros from the end of the 2011 season. Street League released a video-based qualifier that utilized votes from fans, Street League and its pros to select the winning entrants. A similar qualifier is launched at the DC Embassy Park in Barcelona, Spain for one European Pro to join the league. Tickets for the Street League DC Pro Tour fueled by Monster Energy are on sale now at streetleague.com. The series will be available live on ESPN2, ESPN3, Street League's official Facebook page, and distributed to over 198 countries via the ESPN family of channels.
