Known for getting insane air out of a halfpipe, Jack Mitrani is a professional snowboarder who not only throws down at competitions but also spends a good amount of time behind a camera lens and hosts interviews at some of the most distinguished events like the X Games. Jack Mitrani is sponsored by some of the most recognized names in snowboarding such as Burton Snowboards, Billabong, Frends, Mammoth Mountain, Amp Energy Drink and more as well as hosts an internet series on the Frends website.
Born in 1988 Jack Mitrani grew up in Stratton, Vermont and currently resides in Mammoth Lakes, California. He and his younger brother Luke Mitrani got into snowboarding at a local resort when they saw other people snowboarding and they thought it looked more fun than skiing. Since trading skis for a snowboard Jack Mitrani’s life has been centered around snowboarding, riding for teams like Burton Snowboards and Billabong. Early on in his snowboarding career Jack Mitrani was known for getting huge air out of the pipes but lacked control, since his early days he has learned to control his tricks and massive air making him a contender to any event. Jack Mitrani attempted to break a world record for quaterpipe air in 2008 at the Billabong Air and Style Event, but sustained a back injury, causing him to sit out most of the 2008/2009 season. In 2010 Burton rider Jack Mitrani placed third in the halfpipe at the Winter Dew Tour in Ogden, UT stop, ranking 5th overall, and placing 6th in the Park City Grand Prix 5. Following in 2011 Jack Mitrani placed fourth at the superpipe at one of the stops in the Dew Tour as well as ranked 5th in the X Games Best Method contest. In his most recent competition Jack Mitrani placed third in the quarterpipe at the 2012 World Snowboard Championship.
Outside of snowboarding Jack Mitrani keeps his plate full with a list of hobbies and events. As a member and promoter of the notorious Frends Crew, Jack Mitrani helped create the Frends website. What started as a site for the Frends Crew to post videos and news has transformed to a business selling headphones and electronic accessories as well as sponsoring other pro snowboarders. In 2011 Jack Mitrani helped organize “Frendly Gathering”, a three day music festival featuring 30 bands and musicians, a skate ramp, swimming pond, and village of food, art and vendors. The idea for the festival came about as camping music party to help bring friends back together throughout their busy careers as professional snowboarders, and has transformed into a successful festival that Jack Mitrani wants to continue for years to come.
Sponsored by some of the most renowned names in snowboarding including Burton Snowboards, Billabong, Frends, Mammoth Mountain and more, Jack Mitrani has dominated the spotlight with his insane skills in a halfpipe, musical innovation and his talent behind and in front of a camera lens. From his web series on the Frends website to his record setting heights out of a halfpipe, pro rider Jack Mitrani is constantly turning heads all the while staying true to his true roots of friends, music and snowboarding.
