One of the most fearless skateboarders the industry has ever seen, rocker and three time Street League competitor David Gonzalez is a heavy hitter with a raw style that stands out among the rest. Starting in the streets of Colombia he has skated his way to success representing names such as Flip Skateboards, Volcom, Globe International, Ricta Wheels, Independent Trucks and more. More famously known for his ability to conquer large features, this Colombian skateboarder has earned his place with his undeniable talent and insane roles in Flip Skateboard’s Extremely Sorry and Thrasher’s Possessed to Skate.
David Gonzalez started skateboarding at 10 years old on the streets of Medellin, Colombia. Born in 1990 from a family with very little, skateboarder David Gonzalez grew up living a very different life than most professional skateboarders. David Gonzalez became a professional skateboarder when Flip Skateboards traveled to Colombia to recruit him to join the Flip Skateboards professional team, later joining with names like Volcom, Globe International, Mob Griptape, Ricta Wheels, Independent Trucks and more.
Making his debut in skateboarding cinema, David’s first role was one for the books with his ending part in Flip Skateboard’s Extremely Sorry. Following that role he was featured in a solo part in Thrasher’s Possessed to Skate where he gained recognition skating huge obstacles, then at the end left everybody’s heads spinning with his 50/50 grind on an enormous double set of stairs. Granted, giant obstacles don’t come without their price, and taking gnarly falls is one of them, but that has never stopped David Gonzalez from going big, and it is with this style of skating he has commonly frequented magazines and their covers. Shortly after his role in Possessed to Skate, David Gonzalez won the much deserved 2012 Trasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year award. With an undeniable talent David Gonzalez joined the first ever Street League pro tour to compete against the finest skateboarders the world over.
Whether he is competing in events like Street League or filming for mind blowing roles such as Thrasher’s Possessed to Skate and Flip Skateboard’s Extremely Sorry David Gonzalez charges hard and always goes big. Riding for big name sponsors like Flip Skateboards, Volcom, Globe, Independent and more David Gonzalez features his own signature lines of Flip skateboard decks, and Ricta Chrome Core Gonzalez skateboard wheels. With his deep rooted influences of music, specifically metal and rock, David Gonzalez has the style of a rock star and a fearless talent that can’t be surpassed.
