Born in San Clemente, California in 1989, Ryan Sheckler got his start on a skateboard at 18 months old with the help from has dad. By the time he was 4 he was already doing ollies, and at 6 years old he was skating every day. Naturally as a child skateboarder he began competing at a young age. In 2003 Ryan Sheckler has become a professional, and at 13 years old he became the youngest competitor in X Games history to win a gold medal. Always one driven to win, Ryan Sheckler has taken home a total of 5 medals from the X Games, 3 of them being gold. Among the many other competitions Ryan Sheckler has dominated, he has skated with Street League in their three year history, and in 2011 he was a finalist and placed third overall.
Outside of the competition circuit, Ryan Sheckler has made a name for himself in films and television. In 2007 Ryan Sheckler had his own reality TV show on MTV called “The Life of Ryan” which gained him international stardom. Shortly after “The Life of Ryan” aired on MTV Ryan Sheckler started the Sheckler Foundation as a means to give back the community by fundraising and hosting charity events to help children and injured action sports athletes. Prior to achieving fame with his reality show The Life of Ryan and holding his own in competitions like Street League, Ryan Sheckler has also had some notable roles in skateboarding cinema. When Ryan was a child he was featured in “Almost: Round Three” and the Oakley film “Our Life”, where he was shredding with pros nearly twice his age. His most recent role in skateboard cinema was with his sponsor Plan B Skateboards in their promotional video “Superfuture”. Ryan Sheckler also has his own line of skateboard decks with Plan B Skateboards including the Plan B Ryan Sheckler Street League skateboard deck and the Plan B Ryan Sheckler Crest and a signature line of sunglasses with Oakley.
