From the superpipe to the park all the way to the backcountry Scotty Lago is a dynamic snowboarder who continues to push the limits of snowboarding. Scotty Lago was born in 1987. He got his start in snowboarding at a local tubing hill in Massachusetts and has been riding ever since with the support of his family. With an extensive list of competition history Scotty Lago has landed invites to some of the world’s most renowned events. In 2010 Scotty Lago secured a spot in the Vancouver Winter Olympics where he placed third and took home the bronze medal. In the summer of 2011 Scotty Lago joined the Nike professional snowboarding team, adding to his list of notable sposnors such as Flow Snowboards, Smith and more. In the same year he joined Nike, Soctty Lago was filming in the backcountry for his upcoming role in the “Art of Flight” and after a bad landing broke his jaw. Despite his injury and having his jaw wired shut he still competed in four different events at the 2011 Winter X Games. In the Superpipe Scotty Lago placed second and won gold for Best Method. In 2012 Scotty Lago was one of the 18 professionals invited to compete in the first ever Supernatural competition, unlike any other contest Supernatural infuses the back country with a terrain park. In the event Scotty Lago volunteered to take the first run and but unable to place, ranking 17th overall.
Scotty Lago is one of the members of the infamous Frends Crew, which started as a group of snowboarders who would post videos and news on a website. The Frends Crew has since transformed into a business selling headphones, a decision that was made due to the shared interest and influence of music. Outside of competitions Scotty Lago likes to focus a good portion of his time riding with friends in the backcountry. He has mentioned that early on in the season he prefers to compete, but once the weather begins to change and he gets burned out of competing he likes to transition to the natural terrain to focus on filming. Recently Scotty Lago was featured in a role for Brain Farm’s “Art of Flight”, where he travels to different locations with other professionals to film in extreme places. His versatility and talent landed him the tenth spot on Snowboarder Magazine Rider of the Year.
