Basswassup
Our love of fishing began in the mid-1980s, when our dad and uncle David introduced us to the sport. Our uncle was an avid fisherman, and his family had a deep-sea fishing boat. We loved it instantly, and we quickly tried our hand at all sorts of fishing, from deep-sea fishing to trout fishing in the Sequoias to fishing the back bay in Newport Beach. But what really hooked us were black bass. We would wake up at 4am on the weekends to watch Bill Dance, Roland Martin, and The In-Fisherman on TV. We dreamed of owning a bass boat and joining the Bassmaster Tour. We read textbooks on fishing and shared information with each other and our cousin Shane Banes whenever we learned something new. As we got older, we were more involved in other activities, like skateboarding, snowboarding, and potato launchers. Fishing became something we did with our family, but we'd still sneak into a golf course pond or find a hidden gem in the orange groves. But even though we were busy with other things, our love of bass fishing never went away. Eventually, we jumped back into it headfirst. We started fishing all the time and created a blog called BassWassup. Our blog was a hit, and we quickly gained a cult following. A few of us even got bass boats, and we were fishing like we used to. Then, our father passed away. We were devastated, and we slowed down on fishing for a while. But even though we were grieving, our love of fishing was still there. We talked about it for years, and we finally decided to create BassWassup the brand. We wanted to create a brand that would share our love of fishing with the world. BassWassup is a brand for everyone. It's for the beginner who just picked up a fishing rod for the first time, and it's for the experienced angler who's been fishing for decades. It's for the guy who fishes with his buddies on the weekends, and it's for the woman who fishes by herself early in the morning before work. It's for the kid who dreams of fishing the Bassmaster Classic, and it's for the grandparent who just wants to relax on the dock and cast a line. BassWassup is a brand about fishing, but it's also about community. It's about sharing our love of the sport with others. It's about getting out on the water and enjoying the outdoors. It's about making memories that will last a lifetime. So if you love fishing, or if you're just getting started, we welcome you to the BassWassup family. We're glad you're here.
